Using a small Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws that hold the laptops hard drive in place. The hard drive screws are located on the bottom of the laptop on the lower right corner.
Image the hard drive using the hard drive imaging tool. This should be done with a hard drive that has a complete setup for the field service laptops already installed on it.
Once the hard drive is imaged, place it back into the laptop. Do this carefully, as the hard drive goes in only one way, and it is easy to miss the catch that the hard drive casing uses to secure itself in place.
Open System by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.
Under Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings, click Change settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
On the Computer Name tab, click Change.
Under Computer name, delete the old computer name, type a new computer name, and then click OK. The computer name you will use is workorderltXX, where XX is a unique number that does not currently exist on the network or is being recycled. Now you are ready to add the computer to the domain. We will do so in the next step.
While you are in the System properties, click Change to change the domain name of the computer.
Under Member of, click Domain.
Type the name of the domain that you want to join, and then click OK. The domain used for the field service laptops is Flogistix.lp
You will be asked to type your user name and password for the domain. For the field laptops see Credentials. Once you are successfully joined to the domain, you will be prompted to restart your computer. You must restart your computer before the changes take effect.
Log into OKCDC01 and launch the Active Directory. Under the directory listing Flogistix.lp à Computers the new laptop’s name that you added should appear. Drag the laptop to the Field Laptops group. This is located under the listing Flogistix.lp à Flogistix Computers à Field Laptops. Once the laptop is in this directory, you can log out of OKCDC01 and return to the laptop.
Group Rules
Log into the administrator account several times by restarting the computer. This is needed to make sure that all of the necessary group rules are applied to the laptop. Once you are asked to choose a browser, choose Google.
Novatel Wireless
The Novatel Wireless program is launched automatically; however if it is not running on its own you may run it by double clicking the Dell Mobile Broadband Utility Icon on the desktop.
In the upper right corner of the Novatel Wireless window, click the wireless icon. This will bring up a menu. Click on Device Properties. The two things you will need from this window are the Mobile Number and the MEID. Once you have obtained these notify the appropriate carrier so that the air card may be activated.
Changing Out Flowork's Client
Open Internet Explorer and browse to www.floworks.net/rsync.zip. Click “Save as” and let it save in download folder. Size: 45.9MB
Move the folder '.SSH' & 'cygwin' to the C:\ from the rsync.zip.
Move the rsync.sh bash script within the zip in the C:\Floworks\ folder.
Place the "cygwin terminal" shortcut onto your desktop.
Open cygwin and enter:
bash --login -i /cygdrive/c/floworks/rsync.sh
(This will initiate syncing, file comparison, change out listen.py and command.py as well as general cleanup.)
Go to http://www.gotoassist.com and log in with these credentials. (Credentials)
Choose Unattended Installer on the left side.
Choose MSI Windows Installer next. (Your may do this with a LAN for faster connection speed)
Once you have installed the program, open Go To Assist on an IT laptop that has the client installed and verify that the laptop exists in Go To Assist by opening the program and checking to see if the laptop name exists under Unattended Computers.
If we just added workorderlt33, this screen would verify that the installation of Go To Assist was on the field service laptop successful.
You are now ready to log out of the administrator account and test the field service account. In the start menu, select log off. Once the user screen appears click switch user and log in with these Credentials.
The account should bring up the Floworks program. You can test the log in by providing the truck number 4164. Once you are logged in, verify that the current version is correct at the bottom. It should match the version of Floworks that is currently in production. If the Floworks version is not correct, start C/FloWorks/listen.py. Let it finish. To verify, open C/Program Files/Git/Git Bash Shortcut and run: cd c:floworks, then git pull origin master. With this action, Floworks should be up to date.
Verify that the computer is connected to the internet wirelessly by clicking on the forums link at the top of the page. Failure to load will indicate internet failure. Troubleshoot as necessary to get wireless connectivity.
You are now ready to lock down the BIOS. Shut down the computer and use the F12 key to enter the BIOS Setup as the machine boots.
Under OTHER OPTIONS select BIOS Setup. Make the appropriate changes as outlined in this section.
