The purpose of this procedure is to establish the minimum requirements for performing engine emissions system Preventative Maintenance (PM) on Flogistix units equipped with the Logix PLC control system and integral Air / Fuel Ratio Control feature. This Preventative Maintenance Procedure is in compliance with EPA ruling 40 CFR Part 60 Subpart JJJJ and 40 CFR Part 63, Subpart ZZZZ where applicable. Maintenance intervals shall be based on run time hours of 2,190 running hours. Preventative Maintenance hours will be tracked automatically by Flogistix. Flogistix maintenance activities will vary depending on unit type, but will not exceed 2,190 run hours.
This procedure applies to units equipped with the Logix PLC and AFRC feature and that are currently in service in the field or undergoing make-ready procedures at a repair shop. Flogistix Service Technicians will perform the PM as required.
Before any work is performed, a JSA must be completed according to Flogistix procedure along with any Customer requirements before any work is started.
(If in operation at the time of PM) Pre-Check requirements before shutdown:
Fuel System:
Confirm pressure on fuel gas scrubber is between 20 and 25 psig, adjust as-needed. Note exact pressure while running for comparison to static pressure while not running. Differential pressure indicates restriction from fuel filter.
Check fuel scrubber drain for liquids. If present, check for proper function of fuel scrubber drain system and adjust drain interval times as-needed.
Exhaust System:
Inspect for exhaust leaks visually and audibly on engine exhaust manifold / headers, flanges, flex joints, catalyst housing closures and ports. Repair any leaks found once components are cool.
AFRC Controls:
Review Logix AFRC feature control settings and alarms:
Ensure exhaust oxygen sensor voltage reading displays and value is within device range of 0.000 to 1.000 volts
Ensure exhaust oxygen sensor voltage alarms are on for high and low.
Determine if AFRC fuel valve position is in an appropriate range for the driver load and speed.
Ensure Loss of Fuel Control - Lean and Loss of Fuel Control - Rich alarms are on
Note: Sensor values are tracked by Flux and records of emissions related performance indicators are maintained by Flogistix
Performance Test:
Measure and record stack emissions in as-found condition.
Before any work is performed, all Safety precautions and LOTO must be in-place in accordance with Flogistix policy on the unit type for Preventative Maintenance.
Emissions System Maintenance items to be performed after shutdown of unit
Emissions System Maintenance items:
Upon shutdown, immediately check fuel supply system
Listen for leaks around 1st and second cut fuel regulators, fuel cut-off valve, carburetor, or other fuel supply components. Repair as needed.
Check fuel scrubber pressure. If pressure is more than 5 psi greater than measured value while running, Fuel filter must be replaced (where equipped).
After regular engine and compressor PM is complete, proceed with remainder of emissions system maintenance
Replace engine exhaust oxygen sensor
If measured stack emissions exceed regulatory thresholds, remove and inspect catalyst when exhaust has sufficiently cooled down.
If catalyst is found to be visibly dirty, fouled, or otherwise contaminated, replace
If sealing material around catalyst or catalyst closure, or any other leak path is found, and catalyst is otherwise visibly clean and free of contaminates, replace gasket material and repair condition as appropriate to eliminate any leak path around catalyst.
Emissions System Maintenance items to be done after Re-Starting the Engine.
Performance Test:
Bring system to full speed and 90% or greater load
Confirm using stack analyzer that emissions comply with applicable regulatory requirements
Adjust AFRC 9 point settings as-needed to return system to compliant with new oxygen sensor
Return system to nominal application running condition, resulting in the speed and load that is typical for the installation
Adjust AFRC 9 point settings as-needed to return system to compliant with new oxygen sensor
Management - Management is responsible for implementing, supporting, and enforcing the requirements of this procedure to their respective locations/area.
EHSS - Responsible to assist in the implementation of this procedure and to review for effectiveness.
Employees, Contractors, Vendors, ETC. - Are responsible to follow the follow the requirements outlined in this procedure and ask for assistance
This procedure applies to all engine driven compressor units that are equipped with the Logix PLC panel and AFRC feature.
Employees should be aware that units could contain flammable and toxic gasses. Potential for the possible hazards of gas ignition or fire, hot surfaces & fluids, rotating equipment. Risk of possible concentration of H2S. Hazardous gases could be in the units pressure vessels, cooler, or associated piping and risk of inhalation of hazardous gas fumes. Environmental spill of engine waste oil and production fluids
All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for normal Field Mechanical duties apply for this procedure. Four Gas Monitor, which is outlined in the Flogistix EHSS Manual, PPE Section 8, Procedure 8.3 This procedure applies to all units in service in the field, at a service shop, or in any storage yard.
Insure Flogistix personnel have proper safety certification as required by the Flogistix Customer.
Insure Flogistix personnel adhere to all Customers safety practices.
