This Policy is under development
The purpose of this Policy is to establish a Flogistix EHSS approved list of Lifting Straps, Lifting Eyes, and Lifting Shackles to be used as Crane Rigging devices while lifting compressors, engines, or other components on compressors skids using portable cranes, shop cranes, hoists or other Flogistix EHSS approved lifting devices being used by Flogistix Field or Shop Mechanics.
Home made Crane Rigging devices or devices without a stamped lifting capacity are NOT allowed for use by Flogistix employees or contractors.

Approved Crane Rigging Devices
A commercial built lifting bracket with stamped load rating (See example below) may also be used for lifting GM 5.7 engines by removing the carburetor and bolting the engine lifting plate to the intake manifold. Proper bolt length needs to be used when bolting engine lifting bracket to intake manifold to insure enough bolt threads to support engine weight. This type lifting bracket is only approved for and can only be used on the GM 5.7 engine. This is NOT APPROVED for lifting the GM8.1 engines with the Dart manifolds.

It is the responsibility of the Field or Shop Mechanic using the above listed Crane Rigging devices to insure the proper use of each type of lifting strap, lifting eye, or shackle.
The Mechanic using the Crane Rigging devices must insure that any Crane Rigging device is free from any damage before use.
It is the mechanics responsibility to insure that all Crane Rigging devices are stored properly after use to prevent damage to devices.
Any Damaged Crane Rigging device shall be taken out of service and Not be used. The Area Manager must be notified
