The purpose of this job description is to establish the minimum requirements for Service Technician.
Service Technician Position
The position of Service Technician will consist of the following duties based on the structure of Flogistix at the time. This position is being described as of January 2017.
This position is intended for an individual who has the mechanical ability to safely maintain, operate, and perform repairs and preventative maintenance to natural gas engine and electric driven gas compressor packages. It will require these repairs to be performed on Flogistix rental fleet compressors and possible third party customer owned compressors that Flogistix is hired to repair. This individual will be required to correctly repair and operate Flogistix rental equipment to the best of their trained skill level or ability with little or no supervision.
This position will answer directly to the Area Service Manager. Some areas may have a Lead Service Technician to assist the Area Service Manager. In those areas the Service Technician may also take direction on work tasks from the Lead Service Technician.
Duties to Include:
Abide by all Flogistix Policies and represent Flogistix to our Customers and fellow Employees in a Professional and Courteous Manner.
Abide by all Flogistix Safety Policies and report any and all incidents/accidents to Area Service Manager. Stop any known unsafe acts being committed by anyone working in, on or around any Flogistix facility, vehicle, or compressor package. Do not perform any task that you feel is out of your ability to perform whether physically or mentally that may cause harm to yourself or the equipment you are working on. Any employee of Flogistix has the right to refuse or stop work ("Stop Work Authority") or actions for an unsafe act being committed.
See that all Field Service Reports for repair work that you have performed have been completely and accurately filled out. This includes a description of all work that has been done and also all parts that were used to complete the repair. This also includes all third party work orders for repair work being performed on customer owned equipment.
Perform your assigned job or task to the best of your ability and to perform your duties in the safest way that you have been trained and in a professional a manner.
Keep your supervisor informed of compressor call outs from customers that you have been called out to. Notify your supervisor if you have been called out to the same compressor location more than two days in a row. Communicate with the customers and or operators that are operating compressor units that you are assigned to. If you are confronted by a customer that is not satisfied by Flogistix or by your work performance then you need to conduct your self in a professional manner and notify your supervisor immediately. Your supervisor will then be responsible for any other communication with that customer in question.
Communication with customers should be either face to face or by telephone. No texting to any customer about compressor operations or call outs.
Keep all Flogistix compressor packages assigned to you clean and presentable. Keep off any oil, antifreeze or any other fluids or liquids that will not evaporate from skid surface.
See that all company equipment that is issued to you, that includes all tools either shop or field, hand or power tools is being maintained and kept up to standards. This is including company vehicles that are assigned to you. Any violations noticed should be reported to the Area Service Manager.
Perform all scheduled (preventative) maintenance services at the scheduled time according to the Flogistix Rental Compressor Maintenance Program.
Keep assigned company vehicle clean and organized. Your company vehicle maybe the first impression a customer has of Flogistix.
Weekend work may be required and you also may be required to be available after hours for any needed additional help of repairs on compression equipment.
Some overnight travel out of said service area may be required at times.
Physical Requirements:
Be able to physically operate a Company owned service vehicle. This vehicle could either be an automatic transmission or standard shift transmission. This vehicle may possibly be either a DOT or Non - DOT regulated vehicle
Be able to lift and or carry at least up to but not limited to 75 pounds weight for a short distance.
To be physically able to stand and pull or push on large wrenches.
To be physically able to do some squatting, kneeling, stretching, and climbing, stepping over small piping no more than 24” in height, to step on and off compressor skids no more than 18” in height.
Physically able to climb a ladder up to but not limited to 20’ in height
