This Policy is completed waiting on Field Service, Engineering, and Safety dept approval
The purpose of this procedure is to establish the minimum requirements for replacing or setting up the Phoenix Contact brand Signal conditioner on the Electric drive LOGIX control panel.
Phoenix Contact part# MINI MCR_SL_U_UI_NC
Flogistix NetSuite part# 009-034-008
This procedure applies to all Electric Drive type LOGIX panels equipped with the Phoenix Contact Signal Conditioner that converts an incoming 4 to 20 mA signal from the VFD speed reference to a readable voltage signal referred to as a Low Resolution Signal that the LOGIX PLC will accept. This procedure is to ensure the proper set up of the Phoenix Contact brand Signal Conditioner to ensure the proper voltage output for a Low Resolution Signal for the LOGIX panel as laid out in this procedure.
This procedure applies to all Electric Drive units that are equipped with a LOGIX panel that has a Phoenix Contact brand Signal Conditioner for VFD Speed Reference that is currently in service in the Field, Test Loop, at a Repair Shop, or in Storage Yards. Flogistix Service Technicians will perform the task of setting up or replacing the Phoenix Contact brand Signal Conditioner in the LOGIX panel as laid out in this procedure
The LOGIX PLC can only accept Analog & Digital siginals along with one (1) Low Resolution signal. The Low Resolution signal going into the PLC can only be a zero (0) to ten (10) volt DC signal. For the PLC to accept a 4 to 20 mA voltage signal coming from the VFD as a Speed Reference signal it has to be converted to a zero (0) to ten (10) VDC signal to be used as the Low Resolution input signal that the PLC will accept.
Before any work is performed a JSA needs to be done according to Flogistix procedure along with any Customer requirements before any work is started.
Unlike the Phoenix Contact brand Signal Conditioner used on the Flogistix gas engine drive units the Phoenix Contact brand Signal Conditioner used on Electric Drive units does not have Dip Switches. When replacing the Phoenix Contact brand Signal Conditioner make sure the correct part number is being used. The Phoenix Contact part# MINI MCR_SL_U_UI_NC Signal Conditioner is internally set to a 4 to 20 mA voltage input signal and a zero (0) to ten (10) VDC output signal.
Use care when replacing or installing the Phoenix Contact part# MINI MCR_SL_U_UI_NC Signal Conditioner. If the input and output wiring is installed opposite of what it should be the internals of the conditioner can be damaged and then when wired up correctly using the same Signal Conditioner it will not work and will need to be replaced.
When replacing or diagnosing the Phoenix Contact brand part# MINI MCR_SL_U_UI_NC Signal Conditioner there is no adjusting or fine tuning of the Signal Conditioner output signal. If the Signal Conditioner has a 4 to 20 mA voltage input signal it should have a zero (0) to ten (10) output voltage signal. If there is no out put signal verify the proper supply wiring going to the Signal Conditioner is correct, and landed to the correct terminal according the the diagram of the terminals on the side of the Signal Conditioner.
Management - Management is responsible for implementing, supporting, and enforcing the requirements of this procedure to their respective locations/area.

This procedure applies to all Flogistix Electric Engine drive compressor units equipped with a LOGIX control panel that has a Phoenix Contact brand Signal Conditioner used for Speed Reference coming from the VFD and is applicable to all Flogistix employees, contractors, and temporary employees.
Employees should be aware that units could contain flammable and toxic gasses. Potential for the possible hazards of gas ignition or fire, hot surfaces & fluids, rotating equipment. Risk of possible concentration of H2S. Hazardous gases could be in the units pressure vessels, cooler, or associated piping and risk of inhalation of hazardous gas fumes.
All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for normal Field Mechanical duties apply for this procedure.
Four Gas Monitor, which is outlined in the Flogistix EHSS Manual, PPE Section 8, Procedure 8.3
This procedure applies to all units in service in the field, at a service shop, or in any storage yard.
Insure Flogistix personnel have proper safety certification or site orientation if required by the Flogistix Customer.
Insure Flogistix personnel adhere to all Customers safety practices.
All employees shall be initially trained on the following topics:
Employee Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedure according to Flogistix policy
Emergency and First Aid procedures
Methods and Observations that may be used to detect the presence or release of a hazardous chemicals or gas in the work place
Basic LOGIX panel training
Tools & Equipment Required
All employees performing this procedure shall be required to have the listed tools to perform job tasks:
