This Policy is under development and is not completed.
The purpose of this procedure is to explain the operating modes of Flogistix FX Electric Drive compressor units. The procedure applies to all Flogistix FX Electric Drive compressor units.
This procedure applies to all Flogistix FX Electric Drive units currently in service in the Field, Test Loop, at a Repair Shop, or in Storage Yards. Flogistix Service Technicians should understand the operating modes of the Flogistix FX Electric Drive compressor units.
Before any work is performed a JSA needs to be done according to Flogistix procedure along with any Customer requirements before any work is started.
Hand/Off/Auto Switch
The HOA switch turns the compressor on in either the Hand or Auto mode of operation. In the OFF position the panel is still powered, but the compressor and controls are off.
HAND Operation
When the HOA switch is placed in the HAND position, the compressor will start. The speed of the electric motor is controlled by the ABB VFD keypad. All shutdowns are active in HAND operation, controlled by the LOGIX panel. Autostart and restart functions are disabled in HAND mode
To change the compressor speed on ABB ACS550, use the up and down arrows to change the speed. The RPM value in the top right hand corner is the Keypad's "Speed Reference", it will display the desired operating RPM at all times (if the compressor is running or not). NOTE: on FX8 units the "Speed Reference" is shown in HZ, 90Hz is Maximum Speed while 30Hz is Minimum speed. The "Speed Reference" value is changed using the Up/Down arrows on the VFD keypad. The top value in the middle of the screen number shows "Actual RPM", this is the RPM of the compressor when running.
AUTO Operation
When the HOA switch is placed in the AUTO position, the compressor will be started by the LOGIX panel if/when starting permissives have been met. The speed of the electric motor is controlled by the LOGIX panel bade on the operating mode that the LOGIX panel is in (Auto/VRU/Multi-Stream Mode). All shutdowns are active in AUTO operation, controlled by the LOGIX panel. Autostart and restart functions are enabled in AUTO mode based on LOGIX panel settings. The amount of speed signal sent from the Logix panel is shown on the ABB VFD keypad in %. 100% is maximum speed and 0% is minimum speed.
