This Policy is completed waiting on Field Service, Engineering, and Safety dept approval
The purpose of this procedure is to establish the minimum requirements for diagnosing the Low Resolution input signal going from the Signal Conditioner to the LOGIX PLC
This procedure applies to all Flogistix LOGIX panels Gas Engine and Electric Drive units equipped with the Phoenix Contact brand Signal Conditioners.
Signal Conditioner for Electric Drive units
Phoenix Contact part# MINI MCR-SL-U-UI-NC
Flogistix NetSuite part# 009-034-008
Signal Conditioner for Gas Engine Drive units
Phoenix Contact part# MINI MCR-SL-I-U-4
Flogistix NetSuite part# 009-034-009
This procedure is to ensure the proper voltage of the Low Resolution Signal for the LOGIX PLC panel as laid out in this procedure.
This procedure applies to all Gas Engine and Electric Drive units that are equipped with a LOGIX panel that has a Phoenix Contact brand Signal Conditioners being used for VFD Speed Reference signals and Engine battery voltage signals that are currently in service in the Field, Test Loop, at a Repair Shop, or in Storage Yards. Flogistix Service Technicians will perform the task of checking the proper Low Resolution signal voltage as laid out in this procedure
The LOGIX PLC can only accept Analog & Digital siginals along with one (1) Low Resolution signal. The Low Resolution signal going into the PLC can only be a zero (0) to ten (10) volt DC signal. For the PLC to accept either a 4 to 20 mA voltage signal or battery voltage ranging from zero (0) VDC up to twenty four (24) VDC to be used as a Speed Reference signal or Battery Voltage has to be converted to a zero (0) to ten (10) VDC signal to be used as the Low Resolution input signal that the PLC will accept.
Before any work is performed a JSA needs to be done according to Flogistix procedure along with any Customer requirements before any work is started.
The Low Resolution signal port on the PLC is located behind the flip open door on the left side of the PLC. The Low Resolution wires are the black and white twisted wires coming from the Phoenix Contact brand Signal Conditioners to the Low Resolution port of the LOGIX PLC. See example picture
The low Resolution signal is a zero (0) to ten (10) VDC signal only. To verify output voltage of the Signal Conditioner check voltage output at the Phoenix Contact Signal Conditioner. Once verified voltage coming out of the Signal Conditioner is between zero (0) to ten (10) VDC the check voltage at the white plug on the end of the twisted black and white wires.
Management - Management is responsible for implementing, supporting, and enforcing the requirements of this procedure to their respective locations/area.
EHSS - Responsible to assist in the implementation of this procedure and to review for effectiveness.
Employees, Contractors, Vendors, ETC. - Are responsible to follow the requirements outlined in this procedure and ask for assistance
This procedure applies to all Flogistix LOGIX PLC's using a Low Resolution input for Speed Reference on Electric Engine drive compressor units or Battery Voltage on Gas Engine Drive units and is applicable to all Flogistix employees, contractors, and temporary employees.
Employees should be aware that units could contain flammable and toxic gasses. Potential for the possible hazards of gas ignition or fire, hot surfaces & fluids, rotating equipment. Risk of possible concentration of H2S. Hazardous gases could be in the units pressure vessels, cooler, or associated piping and risk of inhalation of hazardous gas fumes.
All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for normal Field Mechanical duties apply for this procedure.
Four Gas Monitor, which is outlined in the Flogistix EHSS Manual, PPE Section 8, Procedure 8.3
This procedure applies to all units in service in the field, at a service shop, or in any storage yard.
Insure Flogistix personnel have proper safety certification or site orientation if required by the Flogistix Customer.
Insure Flogistix personnel adhere to all Customers safety practices.
All employees shall be initially trained on the following topics:
Employee Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedure according to Flogistix policy
Emergency and First Aid procedures
Methods and Observations that may be used to detect the presence or release of a hazardous chemicals or gas in the work place
Basic LOGIX panel training
Tools & Equipment Required
All employees performing this procedure shall be required to have the listed tools to perform job tasks:
