This Policy is completed waiting Field Service, Engineering, & EHSS approval
The purpose of this procedure is to establish the minimum requirements for safely installing and Activating the Sierra Wireless Modem models LS300 and RV50 in the LOGIX control panels when replacing or for new activation.
This procedure applies to all units with LOGIX control panels that are in currently in service in the field, Test Loop, at a repair shop, and or in storage yards that have the LS300 or RV50 Sierra Wireless Modem installed. Flogistix Service Technicians will perform the required steps to properly install and activate the Wireless Modem. This procedure is to be used as a guide for the correct mounting, wiring, set up and activation of the Modem.
Before any work is performed a JSA needs to be done according to Flogistix procedure along with any Customer requirements before any work is started.
1. Installing the Sierra Wireless Modem. The LS300 and RV50 modems use the same power cable and are wired to the power source the same. When updating a LOGIX panel that previously had a LS300 modem to a RV50 no additional wiring will need to be done.
Connect the supplied Power Cable to the Modem
Run power cable in LOGIX panel to Terminal 14 (+12V) on the middle row. Leave some slack in power cable before you cut it.
Twist the Red & White wire together and land in terminal 14.
Land the Black wire in Terminal 12 (-12V)
Leave the Green wire not connected for now.
GPS Antenna – If using the magnetic GPS Antenna place GPS Antenna on outside top of LOGIX Grey Panel visible to the sky. Run the wire into the bottom of the Logix Panel and connect the antenna cable to the GPS threaded port on the Sierra Wireless modem.
GPS Antenna - If using a 3G Data Antenna drill the required hole in the top of the LOGIX panel
3G Data Antenna – If using the 3G Data Antenna that will be mounted on the top of the LOGIX Panel box drill the required hole in the top of the LOGIX panel. If needing to mount the 3G Antenna to a higher spot to increase reception securely mount Antenna as high as the antenna cable will allow on the Solar Panel pole. If moving the Antenna to a higher mounted location a longer than the standard antenna cable will be required. (If replacing the AMCI Satellite you can use the bracket that the satellite head was on for mounting the 3G Antenna)
Modem Activation
LS300 Modem (Shown Below)
Remove the LS300 Data Modem from the LOGIX panel.
Identify the ESN number located on the bottom of the modem (As example shown below)
Open a new IT Helpdesk ticket and provide the Flogistix asset unit number and the ESN number requesting modem activation.
OR
Send an email to support@flogistix.com requesting modem activation. Provide the Asset Unit number and then the ESN number in the body of the email.
RV50 modem
Remove the RV50 Data modem from the LOGIX panel.
Identify the IMEI number located on the bottom of the modem (As shown circled in Yellow below)
The RV50 modems have dual SIM cards that can be set up for Verizon or AT&T carriers. The default set up is for Verizon service. If AT&T service is required the modem must be set to switch services refer to link: for modem set up.
Locate the IP address on the top of the modem for the carrier that will be used.
Open a new IT helpdesk ticket and provide the Flogistix unit number, the IMEI number, and the proper IP address for the correct carrier requesting modem activation.
Or
Send an email to support@flogistix.com requesting modem activation. Provide Flogistix unit number, IMEI number, and the proper IP address for the carrier you are wanting to use in the body of the email.
