1:1 Student Technology Initiative - Student/Parent Responsibility for Device

1. OPTION 1 - INSURANCE: Parents may purchase insurance to cover damage of the device. The technology department has made arrangements with a private insurance carrier to offer this option to students and parents. If this option is elected:

  • The appropriate paperwork must be completed by the parent(s) to enroll in the insurance plan.

  • The school should collect the insurance fee and deposit it into the school's appropriate program account.

  • Periodically, the school should issue a check to the private insurance carrier with the appropriate information needed to enroll each student in the insurance plan.

    • IMPORTANT: It is critical the school make sure procedures are in place to remit funds and plan enrollment to the private carrier on a timely basis. Otherwise, the student will not have coverage.

2. OPTION 2 - ASSUME LIABILITY: Parents may assume full liability for damaged equipment. If parents elect this option, they must sign a form indicating their intent to fully pay for all damaged equipment.
