School Substitute Custodian Allocations

1- Each school is allotted the following number of substitute custodial days/hours for the year (based on relative enrollments. It's up to the school principal to manage how and when these hours are used:

Minersville Elementary: 10 (8 hour) days, 80 hours

Milford Elementary: 12 (8 hour) days, 96 hours

Belknap Elementary: 15 (8 hour) days, 120 hours

Milford HS: 15 (8 hour) days, 120 hours

Beaver HS: 20 (8 hour) days, 160 hours

2- The assumption is that substitute custodial hours will only be used for the basic assignments that need to be done in the absence of your regular custodian(s)--not necessarily the more extensive assignments.

3- It is the responsibility of the principal to find a substitute custodian. The rate of pay will be the first step on the custodial wage schedule. Principals may choose to use a teacher’s aide to fill in as needed as a sub custodian; however, in this case you will need to adjust their future teacher's aide hours in the future in order to avoid the associated retirement cost charges. You may want to identify someone in your community that will always be your sub custodian. Please remember retirement costs are not budgeted as part of this plan.

4- Substitute custodians, once identified, must be properly trained on use of cleaning chemicals, assignments, etc.
