All employees should receive and sign a contract BEFORE they begin the work for all of their positions. This is to clarify and make sure terms of the employment agreement are clearly documented and agreed upon by both the employee and school/district. Contracts include employment conditions such as the following: amount to be paid, payment schedule, authorized working hours, terms and expectations of the assignment, and other critical factors related to the employment agreement.
There are three basic types of employee contracts used in Beaver County School District:
PRIMARY ASSIGNMENT CONTRACT: This contract is generated by the district office and includes the determination of employment status per the Utah Orderly Termination Act which the district and employee is subject to. These contracts are used for on-going and long-term positions within the district.
ADDITIONAL DUTY CONTRACT: This contract is generated for additional duty assignments that are considered temporary/provisional and includes no guarantee for future employment for additional duty assignments. These contracts are used for short-term, seasonal, and temporary assignments such as coaching, student club advisers, extra-curricular assignments, etc. Programs and administrators may generate additional duty contracts for assignments of $2,999 or less. All additional duty contracts of $3,000 or more must be reviewed and generated at the district office before the assignment occurs.
