In fiscal year 2013-14, the district is implementing an incentive program for schools to help direct funds away from unnecessary utilities costs towards custodial equipment and supplies. Schools which experience a savings in their utilities costs, will have an opportunity to use the savings to purchase new custodial equipment and supplies at their discretion. Savings is determined by comparing the total utilities costs for the current year to the actual utilities costs which occurred in the 2012-13 fiscal year.
Schools will receive periodic snapshot reports through the year comparing their current year utility costs to the prior year. These reports will include trend comparisons to help schools manage and monitor their progress.
Schools are encouraged to work with the district facilities specialists to develop utility cost management plans. As schools develop their awareness and cost control plan, principals and school staff members may want to consider the following resources:
