The district uses pools of drivers assigned specific to geographic locations in the district to help provide for driver familiarity with school needs, driver development, and efficiency of services to each school. The West Driver Pool provides activity bus driver services to three schools - Minersville School, Milford Elementary School, and Milford High School with an estimated student population of 560 students each year.
Student - Driver Ratio: 280 - 1
Summer Needs: School activity trips are dispatched in the summer based upon seniority and driver availability.
Seniority: Dave Myers, Doug Horejs
School Year: School activity trips are dispatched upon the following procedures: 1) the first round of trip selection each week is offered based upon the rotation schedule below, rounds of trip selection are done by seniority thereafter. This is done to ensure all drivers are given a fair opportunity for trip selection and possible hours while balancing the importance of seniority among the activity bus driver staff. The regular school year trip rotation and selection schedule begins August 11, 2013 which is the first week of school. When drivers in this pool are unable to accept a specific activity trip in a given week, the dispatcher is first instructed to offer trips to drivers in the East Pool Driver Rotation. If drivers from both the West and East Pools are unable to accept an activity trip assignment, the dispatcher should pursue any of the following options while considering the transportation staffing plan: 1) scheduling a route driver for an activity trip assignment and scheduling a substitute driver to take the route, 2) scheduling a substitute driver for the activity trip, or 3) scheduling a school custodian who is able to accept the activity trip assignment (last option). **Note: bus drivers and the dispatcher are required to maintain each driver's average hours per week at or below the level indicated on bus driver contracts.
