Artificially Dividing Purchases - Prohibited

Utah law prohibits school district employees from artificially dividing purchases to avoid source selection and district Purchasing Procedures & Requirements. Employees may be subject to disciplinary action, termination, and possible legal ramifications for artificially dividing purchases to avoid source selection options.

For example, if a total purchase is over $1,000 and the district's procedures require obtaining 3 bids, an employee may not divide this purchase in half to avoid the 3 bid requirement.
