Lost Books

Students with lost books have the following choices:

• Find the book and the fine will be deleted
• Pay for the book
• Work to pay off the fine
• Read to pay off the fine

LBUSD Policies:

• Overdue Books convert to lost after 90 days
• At the end of the school year, change overdue to lost settings to one day so that all overdue books can become lost. (don't forget to change them back afterwords!)
• Books lost in elementary school are purged in Middle School
• Books lost in Middle School carry over to High School
• Refunds are not given if the book is returned more than one year late.

EDUCATION CODE

The Education Code 48904 states that any high school may withhold, grades, diplomas, and transcripts from students with overdue library books or with charges for lost textbooks until these payments are made. Your student will be prevented from picking up a registration packet in the fall until all charges are cleared.
