Would You Rather? Book Talk
This Idea comes from Sarah Stippich in The School Librarian's Workshop Facebook Group
(This is a CLOSED Group - You have to request access)
Basically a quick and fun way to booktalk a bunch of great books. Pick 5 - 10 pairings, then ask students (by show of hands or something similar) which one they would rather be/do. Ask for feedback - "Why did you pick that one?" And then do a 30 second book talk for each of the choices.
For example:
Would you rather save a unicorn? Or have an alien for a best friend? (The Creature of the Pines: Unicorn Rescue Society by Gidwitz / Bob by Mass and Stead)
Would you rather start a library? Or build a monument? (Schomburg: The Man Who Built a Library by Weatherford / Maya Lin: Thinking With Her Hands by Rubin)
What would you rather have for a pet? A turtle or a monkey? (Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing / Pippi Longstocking)

Here's another Listing by Category, for example, Chapter Books, Picture Books, Series Books

Which is Worse?
When playing Would You Rather, you choose the better of two bad situations. In Which is Worse, you do the opposite, and tell which one you would rather not have happen to you. Either way, it is a fun way to get students interested in books and talking about the topics.
