Canvas is a learning management system (LMS). Many districts adopted CANVAS as part of improving their access to distance learning.
How do I create a CANVAS Course?
Ask your administration (or Tech person - roles vary by site) to create a course for your incoming class by Promotion year
Archive courses when that grad year leaves the school
Create a Course Card that displays on the students' dashboard:
Find a picture you want to represent your library
How to add an image for a course card
For best practice, images should be approximately 262 pixels wide by 146 pixels high.
At minimum to start school:
Create a Home Page: What are Pages?
There are 2 steps: designate the page itself in pages, and also in the course status section on your current home page. The LBUSD Default is set to Modules as your Home Page.
Post Week 1 - Create your first week's module with pages and assignments
Some Schools ask that Modules be organized by weeks so that students can easily see what they missed when absent.
Grading Scale and Weights - Make sure you are following your department's approved guidelines
What do you want students to see on your home page?

How to decide which Item to use in CANVAS by Carrie Gardner and Hallett in the Elementary Facebook Group
Easily change google slide theme to make different backgrounds, or customize with a photo.
Download as .jpg and insert as an image to your page
Banners that are 760 x 100 pixels are a common size used on various websites and that size works well for Canvas homepages too.
