Wish Lists
This list lives on the counter by the circulation list. Whenever a student wants a particular book, they write it on the list. When the book is ready, I black their name out so I can easily see the outstanding holds. It helps to add the hold to the catalog as well so you are alerted when a book comes in. I also add the online holds to the list so I can see them all in one place.
Use this bookmark by Tommy Kovac to keep a waiting list for a particular book.
From the Scholastic Book Fairs Chairperson's toolkit. This is a wish list suitable for any grade level that students can fill out during the book fair preview to tell their parents the books they want to purchase.
From the Scholastic Book Fairs Chairperson's toolkit. This wish list is geared for elementary schools, but I like the blurb about the importance of reading.

High School Wish List Letter for Classroom Use Open House/Back to School Night
Classroom Library Wish List for use at Bookfair for each teacher.
I also set up a table or shelf to place books that I'd like to purchase for the library. Occasionally teachers or parents will gift a book to the library. Sometimes students will buy books off this table for themselves because it is more visible than in the Book Fair cases. It also makes it easier come closing day to have already selected the books I want to purchase. If a student wants to be the first to check out a book from this table they can add their name to the student wish list.
