Our district course of study: http://www.eduhsd.k12.ca.us/documents/Course%20of%20Study/General%20Courses/Non-Departmental/878_Library%20Science.pdf This course of study is getting pretty outdated – looks like some updating is in order because they do many more tech-based information literacy lessons these days and not so much of the “word processing” as described!
My current handbook, always being refined, can be seen here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uj9lywxa6TuI-n2NmA1dkIkFnjKsb8fg/view?usp=sharing. It is very specific to our library, of course, and contains the most basic information that we cover within the first month. Then there are skills lessons & projects each quarter that build on their library knowledge and ability to assist patrons with resources. You need to develop those for your own library and your goals for the course of study.
My handbook also helps keep each student on track since I am often busy working with visiting classes while they are here and may only have a few minutes with them some weeks; the checklist keeps me organized so I know how each student is progressing and what is left for us to cover when we get some time together. Once quarter 1 is complete, they are mostly self-sufficient and work side-by-side with adult staff members to carry out their job in a self-motivated fashion.
