Pledge of Allegiance

The issue of whether students must participate in the Pledge of Allegiance has resurfaced in our schools, due to recent national news on the topic. Please be sure to share the language below with each of your teachers immediately.

We follow California Education Code, which calls for the recitation of the pledge, but the school district does not (and cannot) require every student to participate. Students can choose not to participate, as long as they are not disruptive. Kneeling does not constitute a disruption.
