Teen Issues Book Talk

I have used this both as a booktalk, and as a passive display during Teen Read Week (Now Teen Tober).  For the passive display, just having the books out on a table with the controversial issue listed on a post it gets students interested in checking out the book.  This works especially well with older books that might not circulate because of their age/cover.  In the middle school version, I use "problem" instead of issue.  When the book gets checked out, just place the post it in the inside cover to use again next year.  You could also do a Book Tasting or Book Pass activity with these books as well.
