"Talk of Voldemort's Return"

Cue No. 7 - Talk of Voldemort's Return.mp4

At the very start of this conversation, the bassoons ascend with a menacing new motif that supports the topic of conversation. This is the Ministry of Magic theme, exposing the underbelly of the Wizard Government, and their reluctance to acknowledge the return of Voldemort.

Once the Dark Lord himself becomes the focus, Voldemort 1 plays in the sinister muted horns, reminding us of the finale of the previous film but also reaching back to the first Wizarding War. As Sirius begins discussing the Order’s theory regarding Voldemort’s plans moving forward, the Chamber of Secrets arpeggios play, alluding to Tom Riddle’s mysterious plot. There are pauses in this statement of the theme though, as the plot is merely a hypothesis at this point.

Ominous chords in the winds hold their position, and an ascent in the low strings accompanies Sirius as he explains further. The harp (and Mrs. Weasley) interrupt the conversation, deeming it too much for Harry who is “just a boy”. Harry then declares his willingness to fight, launching the strings into a quick but noble statement of the Order theme.
