These are temp ideas from Deathly Hallows, either presenting alternate creative ideas or showing the inspiration behind our final versions.Â
Using "The Meeting With Mao" from Nixon (1995)
Using "Gryffindor Wins the House Cup" from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) - with a forced ending. Sorry. :)
Using "Farewell Neverland" from Hook (1991). This inspired a continuous transition between the final cue and the epilogue.
We had always wanted to use Williams' music from A.I.: Artificial Intelligence (2001) over this scene.
"Journey Through the Ice: Part I" - for a mysterious and ethereal take.
"What Is Your Wish" - more of the emotional inspiration. A warm, conclusive option.
"Rescuing Mother" and "Shmi's Funeral" - Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002) / "Presenting the Pre-Cogs" - Minority Report (2002) / "The First Memory" - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2021)
Although not part of the score proper, we had alternative ideas for this scenes and wanted to try them out for a couple different effects.
"Death And All Of His Friends" by Coldplay (2008) - We picked this as something that teenagers would listen to in 2008, therefore it seemed like an appropriate choice. We also liked how it brought out the hopeful tone of the scene.
"Both Sides Now" by Joni Mitchell (2000 version) - going a little more melancholy, this one was just a personal favorite that we wanted to see over the scene. It's similar in tone to the original, but gets more at Hermione's emotional state.
These are temp ideas from Half-Blood Prince, either presenting alternate creative ideas or showing the inspiration behind our final versions.Â
Using "Fateful Meeting" by James Newton Howard - King Kong (2005).
Using "I Cannot See His Color" by James Newton Howard - The Village (2004).

These temp ideas from Order of the Phoenix are alternate experiments outside of using Potter material, some by John Williams and some by other composers.
Using Yoda's theme from "Luke's Nocturnal Visitor" - Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and transitioning to "Entry into the Great Hall" from Sorcerer's Stone (2001).
Using the "Concierge" theme - Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)
Using "Third Date" by John Powell - How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019)
Using "Abandoned in the Woods" - A.I.: Artificial Intelligence (2001)
Using "Anakin's Dark Deeds" - Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Brief excerpt of The Emperor's theme from Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983)
"SHAZAM!" by Benjamin Wallfisch - Shazam (2019) / "Adventure on Earth" - E.T. the Extraterrestrial (1982) / "Raiders Return to Busy, Busy Berk" by John Powell - How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019)
"Totally Fine" by Alan Silvestri - Avengers: Endgame (2019) / "Anthem of Evil" - Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019). The concept behind this was using "Journey through the Ice" from A.I.: Artificial Intelligence (2001), and these excerpts provided the drama that closes the scene.
Using "Diagon Alley and the Gringotts Vault (Extended Version)" from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)
