"The Ferret Incident"

Cue No. 16 - The Ferret Incident.mp4

As soon as Moody throws a spell, the orchestra descends as Draco turns into a ferret. “The Snowball Fight” from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) is re-edited to fit this scene. It was chosen for this spot as Malfoy is being foiled, not unlike when this piece was originally used in the previous film, and it’s one of the more fun moments in the movie. This follows John Williams’ occasional trend of extracting action pieces to reuse, and it provides continuity after that trend was employed between the first two films. Once the Slytherins run away, McGonagall’s motif from the first movie plays. This motif is associated with her as a threatening and rule-following model, and accents her ability to not only discipline students, but fellow teachers as well. The music settles as Harry follows Moody back to his office.
