"The Christmas Party"

Cue No. 24 - The Christmas Party.mp4

Pizzicato strings accompany Hermione hiding in order to evade Cormac McLaggen. Harry notices and walks over to see what sort of teenage drama is unfolding. In the style of “Cakes for Crabbe and Goyle,” this cue plays around with a variation on the Nimbus 2000 theme, recontextualizing it to be a sort of Hogwarts-incidental music.

Flutes play first, then bassoons. The strings tremolo as a server interrupts Harry and Hermione’s discussion, offering Dragon Tartare. Once he explains that it causes bad breath, Hermione takes the entire plate and the music continues as normal. Oboes play the theme this time, followed by clarinets. The cue ends abruptly, choreographed by the orchestra, once Snape flings the curtain aside to see what sort of conversation Harry and McLaggen are having.
