As it becomes clear to the crowd what Harry already knows, a lament for Cedric plays over the events following the Third Task and secret confrontation in the graveyard. Tonality moves around freely, and suspensions accompany the outbursts of emotion from the characters on screen. This piece does not derive material from any other part of the score, and stands on its own as a moment of shock and disbelief for everyone present.
