"Fallen Warrior"

DH 6 - Fallen Warrior updated.mp4

After Lupin interrogates Harry, more people arrive outside, and they run out quickly to ward off a potential attack if they are unfriendly visitors. The music enters intensely until Remus and Kingsley have their wands pointed at each other, ready to kill the other if either is an imposter. The violins tremolo up high, waiting for what comes next. Kingsley’s question to Lupin is about Dumbledore’s last words to the two of them, and a solo horn plays the Fawkes B Theme, followed by the cellos.

Once their identities are confirmed, the music rests. Hedwig’s Theme gets a small appearance in the celesta when Harry mentioned that she was what gave his identity away during the escape. An English Horn then comes in playing the Beauxbatons theme when Fleur and Bill arrive on a Thestral. The string section remains grateful that so many are returning alive, and maintains a sense of quiet heroism for all of these people who see themselves as worthy of dying for Harry.

Ron and Hermione’s theme gets a moment as she realizes the real Harry is behind her and that the Harry walking towards her is, in fact, Ron. She hugs him, and a brass chorale accompanies a nearby hug between Lupin and Tonks, reflecting their seasoned experiences in Wizarding wars. Finally, Harry runs up to Ron and Hermione to a warm and enthusiastic Trio Theme. The section cadences with the winds and bells signaling the final two to arrive back at the Burrow: Arthur and Fred.

The music holds as they ask about George. A slow Weasley theme plays while Fred approaches his brother lying injured. Choir and strings gently enter, and their twin cadence slowly decorates the moment. The chords resolve as George manages to crack a joke, then everything comes to a halt as Bill announces Moody’s death. Moody’s theme breathes its last breath in the orchestra with sad falling chords underneath. Choir and violins close out the cue, re-emphasizing that they are not school kids anymore. This is the second Wizarding war, and there will be casualties.
