"Neville's Parents and The Patronus Lesson"

Cue No. 27 - Neville's Parents and The Patronus Lesson.mp4

Sad and vulnerable strings play as Neville opens up to Harry about Bellatrix and her relationship to his parents. Her theme fades in and out while Neville connects the dots for Harry. Neville’s theme takes over, showing his growing bravery as the child of his parents. The last statement of his theme takes place in the woodwinds, then a small Window to the Past helps the music transition into the Patronus lesson.

The entire Patronus lesson is a natural extension of the material from Cue No. 20. This new version integrates Window to the Past because Harry is finally coming into his own as a mentor to his friends. The scene choreographs all of the spells flying around the room, and takes chances to display other motifs including the Order theme. Luna’s theme gets a statement as her Patronus comes forth from her wand.

The music comes to an abrupt halt, the chandelier shakes, and Luna’s Patronus disappears. Trills build up quietly in the texture, waiting for whatever is about to happen. Harry and Nigel escape Umbridge’s spell just in time. After the wall explodes and Dumbledore’s Army is found, Umbridge’s theme slithers in, more terrifying as a whisper than a shout. The game is up.
