"Rita Skeeter and The Letter"

Cue No. 13 - Rita Skeeter and The Letter.mp4

A brand new theme opens this cue. Rita’s music is in the same style as Gilderoy Lockhart’s in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002). The theme is tailored to the scene, and choreographs many moments throughout. We hear her slap Fleur and drag Harry to the broom cupboard. The scene is long enough to allow for a B section in Rita’s theme, which takes place once she starts interviewing Harry specifically. The A section has some returning moments when the Quick-Quotes Quill begins writing. It pauses and continues when the quill does, and gives a big cheesy wink right along with Rita.

When Harry’s parents come up, the music gets darker and slower, but still remains rather pompous, so as to show the fake sincerity of Rita Skeeter. As the interview comes to a close, the music transitions with the scene as we are shown a castle shot. The family theme plays over the Hogwarts transition, appropriate after Rita's mentioning of them, and equally appropriate as Harry heads to receive a letter from another family member on his mind. The key changes and the violas get a statement of the theme before transitioning into Window to the Past when Harry opens Sirius’ letter to him. The cue ends with one more instance of orchestral choreography as the owl bites Harry’s finger.
