"Horcrux Vision and Harry Departs"

DH 7 - Horcrux Vision and Harry Departs.mp4

The violins enter on a single harmonic, and a solo horn plays the Fawkes B theme as Harry’s vision recaps the Horcruxes revelation from the previous film. Low strings enter below the texture, and the low woodwinds answer with another statement of the Fawkes B theme. Vibraphone and harp in unison poke out seemingly random notes, then the trumpets and sizzle cymbal crescendo over Voldemort interrogating Ollivander.

Harry wakes up from his vision suddenly. The high strings hold a chord, and a solo celesta plays melancholic single notes. As Harry grabs his wand, the music becomes immediately more rhythmic. Strings pulse in octaves with harp and clarinet decorating each measure differently. Harry makes it to the cornfield, then the music halts with him, and Ron is revealed to have followed him out of the house.

The string section begins to emote as the discussion unfolds. A solo oboe plays Wand of the Phoenix over the mention of Harry being the chosen one. Clarinet answers, ending an octave lower. The strings take over once more, letting Hermione’s Theme have a quick mention after Ron says her name. The harmonic palette of this section resembles that of the final scene from Half-Blood Prince (2021). This is meant to capture the friendship these three have, and how it will stand even outside school in the dark times they find themselves in.

The woodwinds and string section pass material back and forth, and when Harry finally decides to come back inside, the Trio Theme plays. This statement is only harmonized in two voices instead of the normal three due to Hermione’s absence from the scene. The 3-Note Motif is heard in the horn and harp underneath the mention of the Horcruxes, and a final Trio Theme closes out the cue in the celesta.
