Check out updates on many pages. New outfits or completed outfit pages.
These pages show what I'd have loved to have seen the Franklin Mint issue as outfits for the two Kate Middleton vinyl portrait dolls. These dolls were issued in 2011 and can be viewed here. Franklin Mint never created a companion wardrobe like it did for its other vinyl dolls, much to the disappointment of its royalty fans.
Here is chapter 2 of "But what if collectors got to take over the factory?"
The photos are divided into sections; click a category to access the roadmap for that section. Where possible, I show photos of outfits made by private designers either for themselves as collectors or that they made for sale. Please note the following disclaimers:
You may see value judgements expressed that differ to yours; you are free to disagree and create your own web site.
Negative value judgements are not expressed about the replica outfits that have been produced by collectors and sellers. They all have positives and negatives, but overall they are included because they are part of the cumulative tribute and a valuable part of the story of creative spirit outside a corporate environment as a celebration of ingenuity and talent.
Where possible, attribution has been given to the creators of any outfits, however I have been collecting photos for more than twenty years and have had occasional data losses, as well as photos emailed to me that lacked source. Sorry. If you can identify any "unknowns," feel free to contact with sufficient info to identify and credit will be noted.
This is all being done by myself in my own time. Please be patient if your favourite outfits or sections are not quite there. I also hope to add contact links to sellers' credits eventually, but do not have up to date info on all, so have included eBay IDs in some cases so that sellers' sales can be searched.
Nothing on the site is for sale by me at this time, however the original creator or a customer of theirs may have the outfit available for sale on another web site. In some cases, the original creators may still be able to take orders. It may not be possible for them to use the same fabric; some outfits were created as early as 1999. If you are interested in buying, get in touch through the Princess Diana Doll Club on Facebook. There is a page and a group. It's suggested you identify the outfit by link and maker where noted.
This web project was begun in 2003 and originally published on Tripod. Unfortunately, it wasn’t possible to continue using the same format and platform, so those pages are slowly being pushed into Google Sites as well as new one added to showcase newly identified and created outfits.
