This ballerina length dinner dress features a sleeves black Hussar style bodice and a pleated red silk-crepe skirt. The waist is trimmed with soutache braid creating an illusion of frogging at the waist. It had a night out at a Pavarotti concert in 1995 and raised nearly $37,000 at the Christie’s auction. The accessories are relatively pared down and simple, probably intended not to overwhelm the elegant, clean silhouette of the gown.
It pretty much needs only a clutch, earrings and perhaps hose and a snazzy pair of heels. I don't even think a diamond or ruby tennis bracelet would improve it and might be overkill.
This is the gown that taught me that FM vinyl dolls pick up fabric dye staining areas where navy or black (usually) make contact. (Apply a light coat of Oxy10 acne gel (benzoyl peroxide) to the stain, expose to sunlight for a short time, then rinse and wipe clean to remove. It may take a few applications. Be patient.)
These replicas are clockwise by Tommie Peacock, Alana Bennett, Mariana from France,) Bea Doll Boutique and Hisodoll (eBay seller who has changed ID as now sews for the American Girl doll.)
As an outfit for the FM vinyl doll, I would be happy to see it include:
1. Gown
2. Black arch strap evening pumps
3. Black clutch bag
4. Pearl drop earrings
5. Suntan hose
