This smart suit in white and turquoise has so many great details, such as a narrow sweetheart neckline and piping around the neckline that then outlines the hips creating a faux peplum. The pencil skirt is very plain in contrast.
The odd shaped clutch purse made an appearance at the York wedding and the suit was sometimes worn without the hat. The hat has a rope twist laid around the crown. The outfit included drop earrings, and white pumps and Diana carried white gloves on at least one occasion. I haven’t been able to find much significant information on it, although it was one of the Danbury Mint Royal Wardrobe Collection outfits. The collector card for that cites a visit to her regiment in Hampshire in 1986, but does not name the designer, whom I suspect was Catherine Walker.
Replicas at left by the late Ann Sago and an unknown maker.
As an outfit for the FM vinyl doll, I'd like to see it include:
1. Jacket/Skirt
2. Hat
3. White pumps
4. Turquoise shell clutchbag
5. Sapphire drop earrings
