The outfit is a bright, strawberry red, long sleeveless split tunic over matching slim pencil skirt and an over the top red and white striped blouse with puffed sleeves. It has everything: a wide, ruffly collar, puff that starts at the shoulders ending at the wrists and a wide-tie pussy bow. It was topped by a cute hat and Diana laid on the accessories...white hose and gloves, matching red low-heeled pumps, her switchable earrings with the faux sapphire drops, a red clutch and her classic, girly 3-strand pearl choker.

The outfit was worn to Ascot in 1981 and featured as a Danbury Mint Royal Wardrobe collection outfit. DM copied it well and it is such a "Lady Di" era outfit, that I really don't think it suits the FM doll, but I do know there are collectors who are interested in every outfit, as well as doing themes. This would suit a theme of "recreating all the DM Diana Royal Wardrobe" outfits.

Not my favourite outfit, it's just too frou to be true. What I mean by that is, too many fussy, fun elements are there that combine to make it look a bit old frumpish. Sorry. I know some people like it. Even in the 80s it was a bit much..

A replica surfaced on eBay as a secondary market sale. I'm not sure who the original maker was and I'd love to know in order to give them credit. I'd have liked to see the hem length of the tunic jacket fall to just above the knee and the skirt a tiny bit lower to create the long column silhouette of the original outfit. The scale of the blouse fabric pinstripe differs to the pussy bow, and the red is too wide in the blouse, but it's an excellent and recognisable replica, which is the main objective. It looks well sewn and executed.

As an outfit for the FM vinyl doll, I'd like to see it include...Nope. I wouldn't like to see it for the People's Princess. It's just too Lady Di. But here's the accessory list for the obsessed.
