Red and blue were Diana's main go-to suit colours. The Catherine Walker white and blue suit is very sharp looking with a white spencer jacket and contrasting royal wide lapels over a white silk demi-sleeved shell top and contrasting cobalt high waisted pencil skirt. The suit was worn many times without the Phillip Somerville hat, which I believe was a mechanism for getting round the Middle Eastern/not showing hair dilemma, but also was worn in Hong Kong with a poppy in 1989 as well as to Dubai the same year. It also made an appearance at the races (right).
There is a rumour that the royals don't remove outer garments in public. If that is the case, it's another fashion rule Diana bent in this suit. In Dubai, the heat was her jacket's defeat, and on an occasion when she was signing a speech, she evidently didn't want her jacket sleeves muffling her words for the audience when the top and skirt were worn without the jacket to a conference for the deaf in August 1990.
What a great hat for a bad hair day. The hat is an illusion made of a white saucer brim slid over the crown of the head after a royal blue turban was wrapped over Diana's hair. A couple of matching feathers accent it nicely.
FINALLY! I hadn’t been able to find replicas of this one, although I felt sure someone had done it. Well, now Miricreations has cracked it and it's a stunner. The lapel has a red rose instead of Diana's poppy, but the effect is similiar

3. White silk shell or camisole top
4. Royal blue shoes
5. Blue clutch bag
6. Single cluster sapphire earrings
7. Nude nylons
