My guess is that this dress was purchased for a Middle East visit. It has all the hallmarks of Diana's typical muslim country tour wardrobe: bright colours, long-sleeves, high jewel neckline, long hemline and no body-skimming silhouette.
The ensemble made a seated appearance next to Charles in a carriage at one of the annual Garter ceremony processions where it was topped by a lovely wide-brimmed red hat.
It's not a particularly desirable outfit in my opinion, however it's representative of Diana's working wardrobe conceptions.
There is one replica of which I'm aware, however this photo was found on a secondary market sale on which no maker was identified and sadly, there ws no hat.
As an outfit for the FM vinyl doll, I'd like to see it include:
1. Tunic dress/red skirt
2. Hat
3. Pearl button earrings
4. Red capped spectator shoes
5. Red envelope shoulder bag
6. Wide gold chain necklace and/or string of pearls
7. Nude hose
