Diana wore this lovely wool pink and purple Catherine Walker suit for Royal Ascot & for a public appearance with the Fire Department with a very odd inverted halo style felt hat which I hadn’t initially insisted on having for my doll until I acquired the beautiful suit, then I wanted the finished outfit. A member of my doll club who sews for the FM Diana told me there were three hats for this suit. I was never able to confirm that and I believe there is only one hat which Diana wore back to front. I have 2 photos of the suit worn with a hat & I really think the one at left is merely the one at right turned around the other way.
At a photo op with Barbara Bush, Diana wore a pink double breasted suit with purple accents trimming the pockets & lapels as well as matching purple buttons. It was also worn on a visit to a Tesco where Diana pushed a trolley (shopping cart) like a normal person. (Yes, as do we all wear our pink wool designer suits to grocery shop.)
The late and very talented lady, Linda Schuck of Scotti's Fancies, created the suit for the FM Diana at left. There was a pattern created for this in 16".
As an outfit for the FM vinyl doll, I'd like to see it include:
1. Jacket/Skirt
2. Purple shoes
3. Purple clutch handbag
4. Tahitian pearl drop earrings
5. Hat
For a long time, Linda's was the only attempt at this, although a sewing pattern was available since about 2010. Jane Hornung Mahlig made the left suit and Axelle Marion the one at right. I do actually own Linda’s suit and Jane’s hat I also own Axelle's suit and hat and this is a rare occasion when I can truly say I think every one of these is superb and I am proud to own both. I had considered selling one of the duplicates but I cannot decide which to keep as they are both superb.
