Pure Contour + Patterns

This project we had to pick three objects and create a pure contour drawing, and fill the negative space in the background. I drew an elephant, a turtle, and a dinosaur but, I wanted my animals to have color and texture to them. So I drew pure contour hands and feet to solve this problem. To fill the negative space I didn't want patterns and designs to overpower my animals. So I decided to use water colors and I used my paint brush to fill the negative space with cool textures with one color.

Struggles I ran into in this project was making my drawings pure contour. When I draw I always use sketchy lines and shading to make my projects more realistic. so when I have to erase all my sketchy lines and not shade it's challenging for me. At first I didn't know what to do when I didn't make my animals pure contour. I really wanted them to have texture and color, but I still hand to have something that was pure contour in my drawing. This is when I decided to draw the hands and feet in my drawing. At first I thought it was a bit random, but now I actually really like how it makes the piece look more abstract.

The overall outcome of this project I feel pretty good about it. If I were to change on thing though, it would be the color of the background because I feel it clashes with the colors of my animals. Also the placement of the hands and feet, I feel that I could have put them in places that add more to the image than they do where they are placed now.
