For this project we were instructed to create three different works of art. One of a something that we use in our ever day life, for this I chose to draw my lunch box. The second image had to be our hand in an interesting position. For the last one we had to draw a self portrait but it had to be cropped (meaning not the whole face). The idea of this project to draw those three things totally by our selfs with no instruction, later in the year we will go back and draw something similar with instruction and as artists we can see how we changed and grew.
I started this project by drawing my hand, I began using a 4H pencil and getting to basic shape of my fingers and palm, then going in with a darker pencil to fill the more distinct lines and indents. After I went around with an eraser to touch up some of the fuzzy lines to make the image as much of a pure couture piece as possible. Next I drew my lunch box, I began by using just a normal HB pencil and adding thicker and thinner lines to help show depth. Finally I drew my face, I chose to draw it at this angle because its what was showing when the mirror was on the table so I figured it would be a good cropped image.
I think this is a good project because it really shows how we grow and change over time as artist, even comparing last years first time capsule drawing and this one shows how much I have changed in the way I look at a real life thing and draw it. If I were to redo any parts of this project I think I would start with the lunch box image, I feel that it lacks interesting components and doesn't really show all angles and detail.
