For this project I wasnt really sure what I wanted to do. I began by thinking about my question so I decided that I would do a horse. I wanted to focus on the wild horses in the west that are losing homes because of the growing population. I liked this idea because I felt like it was something I could do and be passionate about.

I began this project by looking at reference pictures to get an idea of what I wanted to do, this didnt really seem to help. So I began to just start, this lead to problems later because I ended up struggling to figure out a background. So after I started to work up, starting at the nose and then to the ears. I really wanted to focus on the shading and not working on making a 'nose'. I worked only with a 4b and 2h pencil. I wanted to only work with a few things and focus on making it work with the image. I ran into a few problems the ears, I tried over and over again to get them right but I just couldnt get them to look normal. They either looked to dark and off set the whole image or two light and looked like there was nothing there. Then I ran into the problem of the background, I didnt know what I wanted to do just a just did some shading so he wouldnt be floating.

Overall, I really dont like this image, I liked the idea that I started out with but I ended up feeling rushed and hating the end result. I wish I had had more time to think about what I wanted to the background to be so I could do it first and then go over after. I also wish I had some color in the image. Im thinking that Ill work on this more, maybe turn it into a collage or something.
