5 Pinch Pot Project

For this project we had to create something by combining five pinch pots. I wanted to make something with an animal, originally I wanted to make a cow but I figured the pinch pots would work better with a dog. I started by making a design on paper, unfortunately I left this design at school and was planning to take a picture of it once the whole project was done but sense it got moved to online I was unable to add a photo to this page.

I started this project my making 5 pinch pots. One large one for the bottom then a medium sized one for the midsection of the dog and the two same size ones that I would put together to make the head shape and lastly one for the nose for the dog. I let these pinch pots dry out a little bit sense when I started the clay was pretty wet and I didn't want them to collapse once I put them together. Once they had dried up a bit I began but putting the two pieces together for the head I did this by scoring the edges and then putting them together once I did that I build up the base and added the nose. Once this was done I moved on to adding detail onto the face and adding ears. Over the course of a week I took the time inside and outside of class to smooth and add detail to the dog. After I liked the look of the dog I began to glaze the dog, I wanted to paint the dog like a beagle so I used white and two different types of brown to get the color.

I really enjoyed this project but wish I had been able to finish it and get the detail that I had wanted in the glazing. I don't have any other pictures of this project because I never got to finish it and forgot to take pictures as I went. I think that next year if it is still around I will go back and finish the dog and see how it comes out.
