Contuine the Connection

11x8.5

Ink & Marker

This project is a competition drawing for the donate life. For this I wanted my 'call to action' to be something along the line of connecting other through organ and tissue donation. I got this idea from the old road maps so I wanted to put those ideas together. It took me a while to get an idea of how I wanted to do this, so I started off with the continue the connection idea and then tried to connect it to what I saw in my head. What I came up with the idea of turning the road into organs and making those stick out a little more and then having the rivers and lakes be the blood vessels and the other details that stick out in the organs.

I began this image by drawing out in pencil the organs, once this was done I worked out where the words were going to be then when this was done I started to draw the roads in in pencil. Once I had it all worked out I began to outline in pen. I liked the way this looked but I wanted a little bit more so I began to add some color to the roads. After this I stopped working on the piece and played around with the pens, I knew what I wanted to do but wasn't sure how to make it work, so I played around with the makers to see if I could make it work and blend the colors together in the way that I wanted. Once I figured out the colors that I wanted to use I moved on to filling it all in. I started by outlining the rivers and ponds, after I moved into the roads. Once this was done I began to fill in the background, I did this all in one color and then when back and made the organs darker because I had some feedback from my family and they said that they couldn't see the organs until I pointed them out so I decided that making them a little darker would help bring the views eye to it.

Overall I really like this image It was one of the first projects this year that I really wanted to work, I liked my idea and the way it was all was working together, I think that this was a super fun project and I think that I really enjoyed working on it. I thought my process worked well for this project. and overall I really liked this image.
