Dog
6x4
Acrylic
For this project I wanted to try and do another dog, I wanted to do another dog because I felt like the first one I didn't do a great job, but instead of restarting on that same piece of paper I wanted to keep that one and do another that that I could compare the two. I don't really like the image that I created, I had a really hard time getting the colors right and the angle of the dog. So, I think that I will continue to work on this image and see if I can figure out how to make it look more realistic.
I began this image by painting the background, I like painting the background first because then I can let the background colors fade into the image. Once I had the background colors I began to work on the shape of the dog, I wasn't using a reference image for this picture so I think that is why I had so much trouble making it look real. I started with the adding the darker colors to the ears and face of the dog. Then I moved on to adding the white and blacks of the face, then I went in with lighter colors to add some detail. I working in lots and lots of layers.
Overall I really struggled with this project, I think that not having a references image had it way harder than it needed to be, I plan to keep working on this image with help of multiple images to see if I can get it to work. I really enjoy using acrylic paint because of the way it blends and is able to be layered.
