Logos

For this project we focused on the elements that go into design and logos. We began by turning a random word into a logo, for the second half of the project we designed a logo for the Freeport High School. The word that I got when starting this project was "toe fungus," I came up with a few different ideas for this, the first one being that the word would be written out with toes and the "fungus" would be the space in between the letters. I began this by just using a 2B pencil to get the lines down. I then realized that it looked better if I had the toes being the space in between the letters and the "fungus" being the space in between. This design I tried a few times until I found one that I liked (located bottom left). The next idea that I tried was the idea that the words would create a toe, this one I ended up the best. I started by writing out toe fungus and seeing if it looked there was a toe anywhere. I decided to have the letters create the side of the toe while the bottom of the cursive F would be the toe nail.

For the second half of the project we had to create a logo having to do with Freeport High School, for this I decided to go with re creating the falcon mascot. I began by drawing my interpretation of a falcon. The first time I did this I ended up drawing a circle around it and writing Freeport High school in it and falcons under. If I where to create this into a design I would change the font to not my hand writing to make it neater. My final design I ended up drawing a falcon and just writing "Falcons" over it. For this project I focused on making the design simple with thicker lines.

One thing that I ran into with this project was making it actual graphic design, by making thinker lines and less details along with solid colors. This Is a problem that I ran into the first few toe fungus designs. Another problem that I had to work thought was the size of design, with both the toe fungus and falcon design was that I made them larger with than the size that I would want them to be, this I fixed digital. Over the course I really enjoyed this project I liked the amount of time we spend on it and I also I enjoyed the idea. I defiantly enjoyed the word graphic way better than I liked the Falcon one. I liked this one more because I felt that I could go in what any direction because there wasn't really a toe fungus logo already but with the Freeport one there is already so many pre existing ideas that it was hard to come up with something different.
