Extended Blind Contour

Extended Blind Contour

11in x 14in

pen

For this project we began by doing some blind contour, starting with not looking at the page and drawing a our hand, by doing this we focus on where the line is going and having the eye and hand be in sync, where the eye goes the hand goes. After I did the hand we were instructed to do the same thing but draw a face, and then another image of our choice, I decided to do another face. Once we had the basic blind contour things down we were instructed to add on and make the image a whole thing.

I began this project by using a pen to do my blind contour images, once I had done the instructed face, hand, face I decided I wanted to add a few more to the image to make it more complex. So I added an other hand and face. I didn't want these hands and faces to overlap the image that I had already created so I put paper over the images so that it would look like the second hand and face are underneath the beginning part. Once I had this done I didn't really know where to go, so I began by just adding some random little squiggle lines. I liked the look of this image so I kept going with the squiggles lines. I did this all over the page filling in the space where the blind contour was not. Once I had all these lines on I began to go back in and darken some lines and play with the line density. I really liked how this looked so I kept going. Once I felt like it was done I looked at it a little more and tried to figure out what way I wanted it to face. Then I found these cool markers and decided to play around with them a bit to see if I could make the blind contour original images pop out a bit more. So I went back in with the markers and added some light color. After this I decided that it was done.

I really liked this project, I thought it was super fun and creative, I also was really happy with the way I worked through this project, I never really knew what I wanted the final image to look like so I just kinda did whatever. This is something that I always have a hard time with as an artist I like to have an idea on what it will look like in the end, so just going for it is s struggle for me. But i'm really happy with how it turned out, I think its fun and interesting to look at.
