If you're nostalgic for the 1960s and the glory days of Grimsby's fishing industry, we can thoroughly recommend local author Mike Mitchell's excellent new novel "Hope Street". Set in 1964, it tells the story of people who worked in the fishing industry, both at sea and on land, and of those who loved them. It features some great characters who you cannot help but care about and the odd one that you could happily punch in the face!
The fact that Mike was inspired to write the novel after discovering a load of old photos in a cupboard at work demonstrates the importance of preserving and promoting our heritage so that it is there to inform and inspire future generations.
