Roaring Twenties - 18th November 2012

Post date: Jan 30, 2013 10:36:29 PM

May we begin with a big thank you to all our volunteers and visitors, for making our 'ROARING 20'S' event, such a great success!.

We were also so lucky with the weather, after a chilly start, the sun shone down on us and added to our festive mood

This time we were able to display even more information for our visitors, not only about Royalty and of course the hard times and the fun times, but also 'who lived in your house' and many, many more interesting pieces of information about our wonderful town.

To add to this, we were very grateful to 'The Trolley Bus Co., The Ancestry Group and Graham Chaters for his wonderful information about our aircraft, and of course George and Dean Wright for bringing along their 1920's replica motorbike. All these people need a special thank you, for the efforts they made in bringing us even more exciting information about our towns happenings in the 1920's.

As you have seen in the past, our events are not only full of information about our Heritage, but are also Fun. This event was no exception,we served our renowned tea/coffee and home-made cakes and also had fantastic entertainment by 'The Dixieland Jazz Band, Ivor Akester, doing his Stanley Holloway monologues, and The Clee Dancers. All our volunteers and many visitors dressed in costumes of the 1920's and many joined in the fun, with dancing to the music.

In all this was a wonderful event and our feedback forms from the 350+ visitors, all expressed how much they had enjoyed the event and how much new information they had learnt.

Here are some fantastic pictures from the day, taken by Rachel Branson:
