Vanished Empire

Post date: Sep 28, 2013 3:31:34 PM

We would like to say a big thank you to Mr Keith Harrison for taking time out of his busy schedule to come along a give us an interesting talk on the history of the Empire Theatre in Cleethorpes, which included slides and music from the era. Thanks also to the 100 or so people who came along to St Peters Church in Cleethorpes on Wednesday 25th September to support the event.

The feedback was generally very good, but we would like to apologise for the technical problems which left us with no microphone and the temporary loss of electricity, which held up the serving of tea and coffee. Although we coped with the problems, we do appreciate that delays were experienced and that some people perhaps couldn't hear Mr Harrison's talk very well.    Regrettably these things were beyond our control, but we will of course endeavour to ensure that such issues do not affect future events.

This event was our last for 2013, but we are planning to hold more events in 2014, starting with a talk by the popular Professor Michelle Brown in April (date to be confirmed). Also making a return will be Nick Barratt, from the BBC's 'Who Do You Think You Are', who will be giving a talk on 'The Titanic’ at the Memorial Hall on Saturday 7th June.   In addition we intend to build on the success of our trip to Irnham and Ayscoughfee Hall by running a second History Bus. Details will be confirmed on this website and our Facebook page.

Friends of Cleethorpes Heritage would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us throughout the year and we hope to see you all again in the New Year.
