Died 25/10/1940, Age 42, died at sea (burial record comments state “foreshore, south boundary, Cleethorpes” – presumably this is where his body was found)

Son of John Mariner Barratt (1869-1914, born Greenwich) and Alice Ellen Marguson (1869-1949, born Scarborough)

Husband of Clarissa Marie Hudson, married 03/11/1918 in Grimsby. Clarissa was a carpenter’s daughter.

Father of Veronica Marie (born 1919) and Winifreda Bernardette (born 1922)

1901 – living with mother, brother and sister at 87 Barcroft Street, Cleethorpes

1911 – living with mother, two sisters and two brothers at the back of 119 Grimsby Road, Cleethorpes

(presumably father was at sea on the occasion of both censuses)

1939 – Clarissa and children living at 6 Hey Street, Cleethorpes. His mother Alice is an invalid, living at 145 Cromwell Road, Grimsby.
