The Gospel According to Professor Brown

Against the beautiful backdrop of St Peter's Church in Cleethorpes, Professor Michelle Brown imparted some of her massive knowledge of the Lindisfarne Gospels to a large and enthusiastic audience.

From an age where documents can be printed almost instantaneously, the Professor took us back to a time when thousands of cattle gave their hides, which were stretched on wooden frames to eventually create the pages of the Gospels. The positioning of every single word had to be painstakingly planned for years in advance before the sometimes toxic ink hit the parchment. Think about that next time Word is playing up or your printer suffers a paper jam!
